This beautiful beach, on the east side near Kailua, is one of the best places on the island to swim and play in the water. However, be aware that there are no park services or lifeguards, just a long stretch of white sand fronted by calm turquoise waters and overhung by swaying palms, which have made this a popular spot for photo shoots. Two offshore islands called Mokumanu and Mokulua, both bird sanctuaries, offer a nearby destination for paddlers, sailors, and surfers. While Lanikai is a great place for swimming, snorkeling, and paddling, it can get busy, so come during the week to try and escape the crowds.
