The name One Ali'i (pronounced O-nay) indicates that this area was once reserved for, and used by, Hawaiian royalty (Ali'i), and the park is next to the One Ali'i fishpond, a restored Hawaiian archeological site. The beach itself is small, and the bottom rocky, but conditions are usually calm enough to swim and snorkel, even if there's not a lot to see. Topside, the park has basic facilities, including bathrooms, fresh water, showers, and picnic tables, but no lifeguards.
