The rugged north shore of Molokai, known as the Pali Coast (not to be confused with the equally rugged Na Pali Coast on Kauai), is one of the island's most impressive features. Boasting the highest sea cliffs in the world—up to 3,900 feet—this section of the island is only accessible by boat or helicopter. Adventurous sea kayakers can put in at Halawa Bay to explore along the northeastern stretch, past steep valleys eroded by massive waterfalls, and isolated beaches fringed with rainforest. For less adventurous visitors, many of the helicopter tour companies on nearby Maui offer tours to see this stretch of island from the air.
