A lot of tourists do one tacky luau and call it quits for the rest of their life. But this culturally-accurate, award-winning feast and dance show is one of Hawaii's best. The beachfront luau just north of Lahaina town takes great pride in presenting an evening of authentic Hawaiian culture, food, and loving and reverent hula dances, a cut above the rest. You get a flower lei greeting, presentation of pork coming out of the imu underground oven, an open bar, and local Polynesian craftsmen and women creating traditional weaving, carvings, and jewelry before your eyes. The setting is poetic, on the shore under palm trees, with traditional styled buildings and an open-air mood. Both the luau and its sister business, the nearby Aloha Mixed Plate cafe, are partly gay-owned.
