His classy, spiffy restaurant, located at the elegant Plantation Inn tucked behind Front Street, is also a welcome change of pace from the ticky-tacky restaurants in tourist-popular Lahaina. You can sit in the garden, on the veranda, or in the downstairs of the old Victorian home, and wicker chairs and antique wallpaper evoke a bygone era. French owner and chef Gerard offers sumptuous fare such as shiitake and oyster mushrooms in puffy pastry, ahi steak tartare with taro chips, and fresh Kona lobster with avocado salad. And don't forget the award-winning wines and homemade mango and guava sorbets. Not badly priced for the quality.
