This steep lava-rock protrusion, which stretches its fingers into the ocean and marks the northern terminus of Ka'anapali Beach, is arguably the most popular shore dive on Maui. During the day, snorkelers and introductory divers from the nearby resorts crowd the rocks looking for fish and turtles, but to see the best that this dive site has to offer, wait until the sun goes down. Most Lahaina-area dive operators offer beach night dives here at least once a week, and under the cover of darkness, a unique collection of nocturnal creatures comes out to hunt along the rocks. Moray and conger eels follow the dive groups, pouncing on the small fish illuminated by their underwater flashlights, and normally wary octopuses leave their dens to crawl freely around the reef.
