• Vincent's Bedroom, one of the world's most beloved paintings, has been recreated by set designers and others, very near to where Vincent Van Gogh's famous "Little Yellow House" once stood. The artist actually created five versions of his famous bedroom, three in oil. This recreation faithfully depicts the first oil, which today hangs in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
• This is a wonderful way to bring art alive for children. Note that Vincent hung his pictures on the wall over his bed, just as many children do; that could be a starting point for discussion and a way for kids to relate. There are also self-guided walking tours of Arles on which you can stand in several places where Van Gogh once set up his easel.
• In case you're wondering where you can see the other two oils of Vincent's Bedroom, one is at the Musee D'Orsay in Paris, the other at the Art Institute of Chicago. Entrance to La Chambre de Vincent is free for children under age 10.
