The Bayocean Spit is encompassed by Tillamook Bay and its entrance is next to the small, quiet community of Meares. In spring and fall it is a great place for birdwatching as it becomes a stopover for migrating birds.

Bayocean was a real estate development dream back in the early 1900s. Land was bought, houses were built, and every last one of them eventually fell into the sea.
