Swamp peak Trail is located approximately 35 miles east of Sweet Home at an elevation of 3,500 feet. This trail is a moderately difficult 5.4 mile trail. At the trailhead you have two options. By heading west you skirt the talus slopes of Knob Rock before entering Middle Santiam Wilderness. This 3.2 mile route exposes you to a rich old-growth forest community before connecting with Chimney Peak Trail. By traveling east you scramble 2.2 miles up and over Swamp Peak before intersecting Gordan Peak Trail.

Ambitious hikers may want to make a 15.8 mile round trip using the Swamp peak, Gordan Peak and Chimney Peak trail loop.

Directions: From Sweet Home, Travel east on Hwy. #20 for 4 miles and turn left on Forest Road 11 (Quartzville Road.) Travel approximately 34.6 miles up Quartville Road and turn right at the lover end of Forest Road 1152. Travel 3.2 miles to spur road #640 and turn right. Continue on 640 for 1.2 miles to trailhead on right.Because of rough road conditions, horse riders are encouraged to access this trailhead from the eastern end of Forest Road 1152, which is 5 miles farther up Quartzville Road. Turn right on Forest road 1152 and travel 5 miles to spur road 640 and turn left.
