Crawfish Lake Trail is a short trail (0.4 mile) that descends steeply (several pitches up to 35%) from the trailhead to the Crawfish Lake shore. A one way trip takes about one half hour. This lake is small, less than three acres, and shallow. Because of its shallow depth it is subject to periodic freezing and thus rarely sustains a spawning fish population over winter. It is, however, periodically stocked in an effort to produce and maintain a population of cutthroat trout.

Activities include camping, hiking, picnicking, fishing, and photography. Also, watch for raptors in the trees around the lake and look a little closer to the ground for newts and other reptiles in wet areas.

There are two primitive camp sites along the lake shore with fire rings and room for several small tents. Please pack out all nonflammable garbage and help preserve the beauty of this area.

Directions: From Cottage Grove, The trailhead is 29 mile southeast of Cottage Grove. Follow Interstate 5 to Exit 174, head past Dorena Lake along Row River Road #2400 east for 19 miles to junction of Layng Creek Road #17 and Brice Creek Road #2470. Bear right on Road #2470 and continue for 4.1 miles to Adams Mt. Road #2241 on right. Continue on Road #2241 for 8 miles to trail on left below road bank.
