Follow that road back in time, past ramshackle gift shops and burger joints, to the last metered parking lot on the right, and stroll over the sea oats on the wooden walkways. The gay bar that once marked the spot is long gone, but the gay beach lovers never decamped, in spite of some resident complaints about crowds. The lovely, white-sand spot is also popular with skimboarders, but Sundays belong to a queer crowd of all ages. There's no need to be overly body conscious about diving in; conversations are easily started while wading just offshore. Alcohol is allowed as long as it's not in a glass container.
