South Slough Estuary Reserve covers 4,800 acres and encompasses a mixture of open water channels, tidal and freshwater wetlands, riparian areas, and forested uplands. Its mission is to improve the understanding and stewardship of Pacific Northwest estuaries and coastal watersheds. The Reserve offers interpretive activities and programs, hiking and paddling opportunities, and field trips for students.

  • Stop at the Interpretive Center to pick up maps and information. The reserve offers a comprehensive paddling guide and a gear list for sea kayakers, among other things.
  • Monthly interpretive programs include guided hiking and paddling tours (bring your own canoe or kayak). You can also learn how to crab, and you might even catch one of the ten-legged creatures.
