The historic Venetian Pool in Coral Gables is carved from an old coral rock quarry and holds 820,000 gallons of spring water, replenished each day from the subterranean aquifer that flows beneath it. The rock keeps the water nice and cool even in the summer, making it a great alternative to the beach for family fun in the sun—just ask the pool's 100,000-plus visitors a year. In an effort to help preserve South Florida's water supply, the pool recently started recycling the water via natural ground filtration. This new technology, coupled with the restoration of the surrounding buildings and loggias, ensures the Venetian Pool will make a splash for many years to come.
