FamilyExpert Tips & Helpful Hints
  • This is a faithful reconstruction of the original Globe of 1599. It includes "yard" tickets, which are standing only (no sitting anytime) for the entire performance and are open to the elements, just the way it was in Elizabethan times. The Yard is fun and authentic, but be prepared for rain or other weather and long periods of standing, though the crowd does move around.
  • The Globe Exhibition, adjacent to the theater, has interactive exhibits explaining Elizabethan theater--how did they "hang" characters on stage? What did they use for blood? It has areas where kids can try on armour, and there are tours, which are filled with fascinating facts to intrigue all ages.
  • This is a wonderful introduction to Shakespeare for school-age children, and both the theater and exhibition are very child-friendly. In the words of the management, "Children are especially welcome to watch performances at the Globe."
