Christoffel National Park's 1,239-foot Mt. Christoffel, the island's highest point (Nathan Borchelt)

Christoffel National Park is comprised of three former plantations and features 20 miles of trails full of flora and fauna. Some of the park's protected wildlife includes iguanas, rabbits, donkeys, white-tail deer, and several species of birds. The park is dominated by 1,240-foot Mount Christoffel, the tallest point on Curacao and a (relatively) popular day hike (expect the aescent to take about two hours. But there's a lot to explore in this 4,500-acre park.

Editor Tips & Helpful Hints
  • The jungle is dense, so stick to one of the four marked hiking paths, or take a vehicle tour. Maps for both can be found at the visitor area (currently under renovation). You can also pre-arrange for park ranger-led jeep or horseback-riding tours.
  • If you're going to climb Mount Christoffel, bring lots of water and avoid the middle of the day, when the sun is at its strongest.
