  • Amazingly, you can travel almost 40 continuous miles through the so-called Quiet Corner of Connecticut an end to southern Massachusetts on this path that travels north south along streams and ponds as well as atop ridges. Numerous trailheads provide accesses and allow you to create your own hikes of any length.
  • The northern end of the trail, in Nipmuck State Forest straddling the Massachusetts-Connecticut state line, centers around Breakneck Pond. Here, spur trails loop around Breakneck Pond as well as on East Ridge, making loop hikes a breeze.
  • The southern end of the trail is integrated into varied public tracts of land. The Nipmuck travels along the Fenton River, while Other sections pass through University of Connecticut Forest and Joshua's Preserve, as well as parks in the town of Mansfield—an ingenius setup to weave a trail into this historic area.
