The Limber Grove Trail leads from Horseshoe Campground to Fourmile Campground in the area southwest of Fairplay. The trail leads through a forest of ancient Limber Pines. Some of the trees in Limber Grove are possibly over 1,000 years old. Their struggle to survive is illustrated in the twisted shapes of the trunks.

This is a good opportunity for a short day hike. To make a loop users may choose to return to the trailhead via Fourmile Road. This provides a short day hike of 3 miles and offers views of Horseshoe Mountain and Mt. Sherman. Hiking boots with lug soles are recommended for this hike. Although short, it crosses some talus rock that may be less than comfortable in thin-soled shoes.

Directions: From Fairplay, Fourmile Campground is located approximately 11 miles southwest of the town of Fairplay, Colorado. Visitors may reach this campground by taking State Highway 285 south from Fairplay for approximately 2 miles to County Road 18. Travel west on County Road 18 for approximately 2 miles to the Forest Boundary. At this point this road becomes Forest Developed Road 182. From here continue on 182 for approximately 7 miles and the campground will be on the right. The Limber Grove Trailheads are located within Horseshoe and Fourmile Campgrounds.
