This lightly used trail varies from easy to fairly steep in some areas and consists of a few loose, rocky stretches. The majority of the trail affords an excellent view of the encompassing mountains and the East Fork Valley. The north side of the pass is a bit vague, but the cairns can be found to help pick out the trail. Water is available along most of the trail, but treat or filter before drinking. The trail ends at its junction with the Avalanche Creek trail.

Directions: From Carbondale, Travel south on Hwy. 133 25 miles to the town of Marble. Travel through Marble, past Beaver Lake approximately 1 mile to the road junction. Take road #315 to the left about 3 1/2 miles. as the road starts to descend you will see a steep road to the left before the stream. Take the left turn to the trailhead for a short distance. The road from Marble is 4WD and dangerously slippery when wet.
