Adventure and solitude await those who take the time to explore this rough road paralleling the Yampa Canyon. The bench provides a glimpse back into the rugged west, before the era of barbed wire fences and paved roads. Hiking and backcountry camping opportunities are endless. Overnight stays require a free permit. A map is a must.

The road is described as steep, bumpy, dusty, and impassable when wet. Four Wheel drive is recommended but not necessary with high clearance, not suitable for RV's and trailers. Be sure to carry water and at least one spare tire.

Distance: 25 Miles

Directions: From Dinosaur, The Yampa Bench Road Begins at the end of Echo Park Road in Sand Canyon. Follow the Road east. It eventually joins Road 14N to 14, which leads back to Elk Springs.
