Maxwell Falls is a nice enjoyable hike and is one of the first trails to open in the spring. It is a nice enjoyable hike along Maxwell Creek. The falls are at there best this time of year also.
This is a relatively easy trail that opens early in the spring and stays open later in the fall. The only one on the Clear Creek Ranger District.
Directions: From Evergreen, Take Highway 74 to the center of Evergreen. Turn right at the stoplight onto Highway 73. Go to Brook Forest Rd. and turn right. The lower trailhead is encountered first. To access the upper trailhead go past the lower trailhead to Black Mountain Road. On Black Mountain Road turn left and go 1.25 miles to the upper trailhead.
Elevation: 7,800 feet
Ending Elevation: 8,400 feet
Elevation Gain: 600 feet
Distance: 2.3 miles
Difficulty: Easy
