The High Lonesome Trail is located northeast of Fraser. It leads from the Monarch Lake area to Devils Thumb Pass. It can be accessed at various points.

The High Lonesome Trail #9, is located to the northeast of Fraser. It leads from the Monarch Lake area to the Devil's Thumb area. It connects to the High Lonesome Trail ll, which leads south from Devil's Thumb.

Unlike other area trails, High Lonesome Trail does not follow a major stream, so water should be carried en route. The meadows at Devil's Thumb Park offer good camping spots but a clean water supply is not available. The trail leads past several historic sites such as a cabin and a mine shaft. It is an easy hike with nice views of the Continental Divide.

Directions: From Granby, Travel southeast on Highway 40 approximately 14 miles to County Road 84. Travel northeast for 6 miles to Forest Road 129, then east 6 miles to the Junco Lake Trailhead. From here the trail leads either north toward Monarch Lake or south toward Devil's Thumb.

Elevation: 8,300 feet

Ending Elevation: 9,920 feet

Elevation Gain: 1,620 feet

Distance: 3 miles
