The trail begins in an open meadow surrounded by spruce and fir above Deep Lake. It descends gradually toward the south.
Directions: From Beaver Creek, Travel 34 miles west on I-70 to the Dotsero exit, follow signs for Sweetwater and Burns turning north on the Colorado River Road. Stay on the River Road for 1.8 miles, then turn left on FDR 600, the Coffee Pot Road and travel 30 miles up toward Deep Lake. Drive around Deep Lake and take a right. Travel on this road for 1.3 miles and take a right onto FDR 618. .8 miles on the right you will find the trailhead at an old jeep road with a yellow road closed marker.
