This self-guided trail provides a scenic introduction to Florissant Fossil Beds. The path features giant petrified redwood stumps and outcrops of fossil-bearing shale. The length of the loop is .5 miles with no elevation gain. Numbered posts, corresponding to explanations in a free pamphlet, show visitors remnants of the ancient Florissant environment.

Directions: From Florissant, Traveling west on Highway 24, you'll come to a junction with State Road 1 in Florissant. Turn left on to 1 and travel 2.5 miles to the road that leads to the Florissant National Monument Visitors Center.
