This is a moderately easy loop in the Hagerman Pass area. The trailhead is accessed by a relatively rough dirt road with the last mile passable only with four-wheel drive or on foot. This is a great walk for those with an interest in railroad and western history. It is also a spectacular place to view wildflowers. Portions of this trail enters the Mount Massive Wilderness Area, mountain biking is prohibited.

Directions: From Leadville, From Harrison Street turn on to West Sixth Street to County Road 4. Make a right on to County Road 4 and drive to County Road 9 and the Sugarloaf Dam Site. From the Dam drive 4 miles to Hagerman Pass Road. Hagerman Pass Road will be on the left or south side of County Road 9. Drive approximately 5 miles to the Midland Trailhead. The first 3.5 miles of Hagerman Pass Road are improved the last 1.5 miles to the trailhead are unimproved and considered a 4WD road.
