Gilroy Gardens is a family-friendly theme park with rides, attractions, theme gardens, food, and more. Highlights include the uniquely shaped "Circus Trees"; Monarch Garden, which includes hundreds of tropical and subtropical trees, shrubs, and flowers in a 60-foot-tall climate-controlled greenhouse; the Quicksilver Express Mine Coaster; and South County Backroads, in which you explore the grounds in a 1920s roadster or a 1950s Chevy. Aside from Monarch Garden, the park has several other large gardens, including Claudia's Garden, which has a variety of conifers, many of which are formed into unique geometric topiaries and enhanced by colorful blankets of annual flower beds, and Rainbow Garden, which can be viewed by drifting leisurely on the Rainbow Garden Round Boat. The gardens are best seen when attendance is lightest, so try to visit on weekdays in the summer, or anytime in June or October. Admission for adults is $44.99; admission for children three to 10 and seniors is $34.99.
