  • At more than 1,300 feet long, Pismo Beach Pier is one of the area's most notable and popular attractions. Lots of people fish for snapper and lingcod, and you don't need a license to do so (off the pier a license is required). Bait, tackle, and rental gear are available right on the pier.
  • Surfers and kiteboarders congregate here for easy access to the water and good waves, though it can get crowded. Three full-service surf shops are nearby.
  • One of the pier's time-honored traditions is night fishing for shark. It's mostly locals who keep this long-standing practice alive, but visitors can join in, too.
