One of the first official nude beaches in the United States and one of the most famous on the West Coast, "Black's" (as locals call it), has been a hippie/alternative hangout for decades. Gays, nudists, surfers, and families all seem to get along on this expansive beach draped by steep brown cliffs where hang gilders launch while dolphins frolic offshore. Gay men congregate to the north of the beach, but frequent police hassles have kept any public cruising to a minimum. Who cares? You'll be so busy gazing at the gorgeous geography of the place you won't have time to look at anything else. Black's is accessible via a very steep dirt trail down carved, eroded cliffs from the parking lot, so save your energy to get back up!
