Heaton Flat to Iron Mountain Trail is strenuous but promises some of the most spectacular panoramic views in the San Gabriel Mountains. Follow the East Fork Trail about 0.8 mile to the beginning of the Heaton Flat Trail. The Heaton Flat Trail will take you to a saddle within 2.5 miles of the summit of Iron Mountain. Travel the ridgeline from there to the top.

Directions: From Azusa, CA, Travel north on Highway 39 for about 12 miles, turn east (right) onto East Fork Road and travel 6 miles. Entry is from the East Fork Trailhead adjacent to East Fork Fire Station.
