In a little over 3 miles, hikers can experience the windswept summit of 10,064-foot Mt. Baldy.

From the notch, a service road leads to the Devil's Backbone Trailhead. From there, the narrow trail takes you on this moderate hike to the windswept summit of 10,064-foot Mt. Baldy.

Directions: From Claremont, CA, Travel on Foothill Boulevard to Mills Avenue. Take Mills Avenue until it turns into Mt. Baldy Road. Drive 12 miles north on Mt. Baldy Road to the trailhead, across the road from the Manker Flats Campground. Devil's Backbone Trailhead is located off a service road from Baldy Notch.

Elevation: 7,800 feet

Elevation Gain: 2,500 feet

Difficulty: Moderate/Strenuous
