Ernie Maxwell Scenic Trail is an easy 2.6-mile hike. It leaves from Fern Valley Road, just before Humber Park. Beginning at 6,100 foot elevation and crossing streams along the way, it descends 600 feet. It is a good hike for beginning botanists; many different species of trees can be found along the way.

Directions: From Idyllwild, CA, The Fern Valley Road runs northeast out of the community of Idyllwild. This easy scenic trail leaves from the Fern Valley Road just before Humber Park.

Elevation: 6,100 feet

Ending Elevation: 5,600 feet

Elevation Gain: 500 feet
