Remarkably pristine and located on the southern end of town, West Street Beach is Laguna's main gay beach. Tanned, sculpted bodies can regularly be spotted frolicking in the surf, jogging along the beach, or simply laid out on the sand soaking up copious quantities of the renowned Southern Cali sunshine. Cruisy, but not overly so, West Street Beach is a great place to people-watch and make new acquaintances, particularly on discreet, solo walks past nearby coves. On major holiday weekends, such as Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day, the beach transforms into one mega-gay circuit event, courtesy of an influx of porn stars, LA party boys, and annual bashes hosted by promoters such as Will Gorges. On these occasions, the beach gets so crowded that it begins to resemble a sea of flesh. But that's only a few days a year; most of the time West Street Beach is pretty tame (though summer weekends tend to be quite active as well). No matter the time of year, however, make a note to pack everything you might need for a day at the beach, as West Street Beach is an unspoiled and rustic little spot, devoid of restaurants, cafés, or shops.
