• One of the biggest draws of the Newport Pier is that it's the home base of the Dory Fishing Fleet, around since 1891. Watch them return from fishing at about 7 a.m., then line up with the locals at the fleet's fish market to buy the freshest seafood around.
• Want surf clothes? Surf gear? Bikinis? Newport Pier has plenty of shops where you can spend your vacation dollars and restaurants in case you get hungry.
• At the base of the Pier is a sports shop where you can rent bikes, body boards, and more for your Newport Beach adventures.
