It's what road trips were made for. But there's one problem—it's "only" 17 miles. At first blush, this distance seems too short. But you're on vacation—take the pedal off the metal and enjoy yourself. The assets of this stretch will help distract you from the lack of speed. From the famed lone cypress and thousands of wildflowers to seals and sea otters, this is a must-drive. Along the way, you'll pass through the serene majesty of the Del Monte Forest, the jagged beauty of the Pacific coastline, and the lush fairways of legendary golf courses. –Kim Grant

BeachExpert Tips & Helpful Hints
  • This is one of the most famous routes in the country, through an area with million-dollar scenery to match the million-dollar mansions and golf courses.
  • Among the most famous sites are the iconic Lone Cypress (symbol of Pebble Beach golf), Bird Rock, Seal Rock, Fanshell Beach, and, of course, the magnificent and world-famous Pebble Beach golf courses.
  • Pebble Beach is a gated community and, as if they don't get enough money from $300 rounds on the golf course, there's a fee just to enter the place. But it's worth it. And if you walk or bike, you don't have to pay.
