The Bench Trail leads into the monument's eastern district from Pinnacles Campground. It begins by following the Bear Valley drainage southward from the camping area, and paralleling Highway 146. The trail crosses an unmaintained trail, that follows Chalone Creek southward, at mile marker .6. Bench Trail turns northwestward into the monument and continues to parallel the road. The trail ends after 1.3 miles at a junction with Bear Gulch Trail.

Directions: From Highway 146, Eastern District, Follow 146 toward the East Entrance Station of the Monument. Before reaching the monument entrance turn left into Pinnacles Campground. The trailhead for Bench Trail lies within the campground.
