Tunnel Trail leads from north to south along the western side of High Peaks. The trail begins in the north as a fork from the High Peaks Trail. It winds around the western side of the High Peaks meeting with the Juniper Canyon Trail at mile marker .6. From the Juniper Canyon Trail, Tunnel Trail continues to wind around the southern side of the High Peaks to again meet with the High Peaks Trail. Tunnel Trail is rated as moderately strenuous, but add it's mileage to that of the Juniper Canyon Trail or High Peaks Trail, from which it must be accessed. The trail provides excellent views of the surrounding terrain and can be hiked as a loop, from east or west, using the Juniper Canyon and High Peaks trails.
Directions: From Chaparral Ranger Station, Follow the Juniper Canyon Trail 1.2 miles southward to the intersection with Tunnel Trail.
