• You can't take a boat out on Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, but you can fish from shore using spinners or lures (no live bait). The lake has many large rainbows, brookies, and brown trout, although they aren't easy to catch. Spring and fall are best because the hot summer weather makes the fish go deep.
