Since 1972, this company, owned by nearby Stanford Inn but managed separately, has invited travelers to float through Mendocino's astonishingly rich and varied wild landscapes. Ideal for families is the fleet of locally crafted outrigger canoes—they accommodate up to nine people and are nearly impossible to tip, so young and old can simply enjoy the paddle along Big River. Ages two and older can go in rentals; guided tours welcome those older than six. There are no reservations, but call first. "And Bicycles, Too" is the part of the outfit with mountain and hybrid bike rentals for all ages.
