• Malibu Lagoon State Beach encompasses about 167 acres, including Surfrider Beach and a lagoon where some 200 species of migratory and native birds congregate.
• Kelp beds just off shore attract various types of marine life, thus scuba divers, too.
• It can be very congested, especially at high tide. To the east of the lagoon is Mailbu Pier, to the west is exclusive Malibu Colony where the glitterati mingle amongst themselves.
