A famous male-only swim club (until 1994), this icon of Sydney sits directly over the Bondi Baths swimming pool at the south end of Bondi Beach, tucked in a corner of the cliffs. Founded in 1929 by a group of local lifeguards, it now includes a gym, yoga studio, massage rooms, bistro, restaurant, and two bars. Anyone who does not live in the vicinity is welcome to swing by for a casual drink or light meal on the nearly 500-square-foot patio bar, complete with cushions and hammocks under oceanic panoramas. Heavier fare of steaks and seafood is dished up in the more elegant restaurant inside. Live bands play every Sunday, and satellite sports are featured at one of the modern, metallic bars inside.
