  • Bear in mind that Ninemile is still a working ranger station, and that all tours are self-guided.
  • Ask at the visitor center about the Wildlands Training program, where current rangers are taught traditional skills like backcountry cooking, horsemanship, and handling of traditional tools. The Heritage Expedition program opens many of these classes to the public.
  • The mission of the Ninemile station deals with the role of pack rangers in Montana history, and tours of the facility may be of particular interest to equestrians.
