This Maricopa County park has easy hiking loops within its boundaries and two spectacular hikes in the adjacent Tonto National Forest. Wind Cave Trail climbs 800 feet to shallow caves high on the slopes of Pass Mountain in a three-mile round-trip, with fine views all the way. Pass Mountain Trail loops around the mountain in 7.4 miles and crosses a saddle on the far side of the loop; there’s an elevation change of 690 feet. You'll feel far from Phoenix and the Valley of the Sun as you enjoy panoramas of the Mazatzal, Usery, Goldfield, and McDowell Mountains. The park also offers picnic areas, a good campground, a horse staging area, an archery range, and the Arizona Model Aviator's flying site.
