The interpretive portion of the Pine Beach Trail provides information and examples of the local flora and fauna. Most of the refuge's animals are nocturnal and the park is closed at night, so keep your eyes open for animal tracks. This portion of the trail is approximately 1 mile long, from the parking lot to the bridge over the mouth of Gater Lake.
Directions: From Gulf Shores, When entering Gulf Shores, travel west on hwy. 180 for approximately 8.2 miles to the visitor center. The Pine Beach Trail begins here.
