West Horsethief Trail travels 6.0 miles of mountainous terrain with an elevation change of 2,200 feet. The lower trail is the same as Trabuco Canyon but leaves the Trabuco where it makes a sharp turn to the right. The upper trailhead on the Main Divide Road actually is an 8 mile connection with the East Horsethief Trail. Trailheads are not signed.

Directions: From Trabuco Canyon, CA, The lower trailhead is at the end of Trabuco Canyon Wash. The upper trailhead is on the North Main Divide Road.

Elevation Gain: 2,200 feet

Distance: 6 miles
