The Meadows Museum, which is part of the Southern Methodist University School of the Arts, contains one of the largest collections of Spanish art outside of Spain. You can browse works from Spanish masters Goya, El Greco, Picasso, Velazquez, and MirĪŒ, although the majority of the collection dates from the 1550s to the beginning of the 1700s—the so-called "Golden Age" of Spanish art. Now featured is a special exhibit with key artifacts and presidential papers from George W. Bush's personal library; the exhibit "The Prado at the Meadows," which features paintings from El Greco, Ribera, and Velazquez on loan from the Prado in Madrid; and "Sultans and Saints," which includes works created in counter-reformation Spain during the time of El Greco. The Meadows Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday and has guided tours Tuesday through Saturday.
