The Sixth Floor Museum is truly a one-of-a-kind museum experience. It's on the sixth and seventh floors of the building formerly known as the Texas School Book Depository, the site from which it was believed Lee Harvey Oswald shot and killed President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. The museum combines nearly 400 photographs, 45 minutes of documentary films, and other artifacts to re-create the era in which Kennedy served as president. It looks at his achievements during his short presidency and chronicles the assassination and its effect on the country. There are both audio guides and cell-phone walking tours. The audio guide is narrated by Pierce Allman, the first reporter to broadcast from the warehouse on the day of the assassination, and features snippets of historic radio broadcasts and the actual commentary of reporters, police officers, and witnesses. The museum is open year-round, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday, and noon to 6 p.m. Monday.
