This beach gained fame in the 1970s as one of Italy's few nude beaches, but locals don't promote it to tourists, so even in the height of August you won't find it terribly crowded. This could be because of its remoteness and the strange way to get there: From the Corniglia train station, you ring a bell and an automatic door opens to an unused train tunnel that leads you to the beach. You fork over a few euros to gain access to the sand, and there is water available but no toilets. The secluded beach is in a cove ringed by cliffs, and the crowd is Italian counterculture types and gay nudists, although your average clothed person ends up here as well. It's a dark-pebbled beach that can get hot on the footsies, so bring good shoes. Sometimes there are bonfires at night that make for a cozy party scene.
