Located within the South Water Caye Marine Reserve, the Abyss is a popular dive spot for those heading out of Dangriga or Hopkins in the Stann Creek District. It's only a ten-mile run from the coast to this section of the reef (20 to 45 minutes on a fast boat). The walls start about 35 feet down and support a multitude of soft corals. They rival many wall dives farther afield, dropping into the inky-blue depths to an unseen floor below.
