Spec Mines Trail is a pleasant hike 2.8 miles in length over varying terrain. There are a few beautiful vistas visible from the path. The trail does intersect with the Blue Ridge Parkway near Montvale Overlook.
Directions: From Troutville, VA, From the intersection of VA 606 and 640, east of Troutville and Nace, go east on 640 about 1 mile. Watch for sign. Trail ascends and intersects Blue Ridge Parkway about 600 feet south of Montvale Overlook.
Elevation: 2,840 feet
Elevation Gain: 1,380 feet
Distance: 2.8 miles
