The Senate, House of Commons, and Library of Parliament are some of the many Gothic revival buildings on Parliament Hill—part of the area's famous Centre Block. Its heart is Peace Tower, a memorial to the Canadians who lost their lives in World War I. The Library of Parliament, which looks onto Ottawa River, houses a remarkable collection of historic material. Throughout the year, celebrations, demonstrations, and ceremonies attract millions of international visitors and vacationers.
