This cozy, stand-and-chat, unpretentious gay bar is not a liquor store but rather housed in a former one. Long and narrow, and filled with friendly locals, it has live DJs and a small stage for singers, but everyone seems to come here for loud and lively conversations with crowds that spill out on to the sidewalk. People head to the popular Tia Maria's earlier in the evening and after work, and then shuffle across the street to the upstairs more hardcore gay nightclub Starz, which stays open until late. The clientele of Tia's (as the locals call it) is a nice mixture of young and old, male and female, but definitely skews towards "men of a certain age."
